Born in Rhodes on January 17, 1925, Selçuk Yaşar completed his secondary and high school education at the French Saint Joseph High School in Istanbul and graduated from Izmir Commercial Sciences High School in 1948. He is the founder and Honorary President of Yaşar Holding A.Ş. Yaşar Holding consists of 21 companies and 2 foundations and provides employment opportunities for approximately 7,500 people. Yaşar, who started his business life in his father's shop, founded Turkey's first paint factory, DYO, in 1954. In the following years, he invested in many industrial branches that he pioneered in Turkey.
Selçuk Yaşar served as the Honorary Consul General of Denmark in Izmir for many years. Selçuk Yaşar, the founder and pioneer of the agriculture-based industry in Turkey, has prepared and implemented many important projects for the development of meat and dairy farming.
They contribute greatly to sports, cultural and social studies. He is the founder of Yaşar Education and Culture Foundation. Yaşar Education and Culture Foundation, chaired by Selçuk Yaşar, provides completely non-refundable scholarships to talented, hardworking, but limited financial students studying at universities, higher and secondary education institutions.
Selçuk Yaşar gave financial and moral support to many educational institutions and founded Turkey's first private village theater building in Bademler in 1969. Selçuk Yaşar Alaybey Primary School was built in İzmir Karşıyaka, Durmuş Yaşar Primary School in Bayraklı, Selçuk Yaşar Dyeing Industrial Vocational High School in Bornova and Yaşar Education and Culture Foundation Alaçatı Multi-Program High School in Alaçatı. .
Selçuk Yaşar published Ege Ekspres Newspaper, Devir Magazine and Gazete Ege for a while, and is one of the founders of Ege TV.
In addition to being an industrialist, Selçuk Yaşar is also a man of ideas. He has various published works and articles in his press and publishing life. 10 books and 28 separate message booklets have been published.
He is the Honorary Chairman of the Turkish Milk, Meat and Food Industrialists and Producers Association (SETBİR), the Aegean Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (ESİAD) and Karşıyaka Sports Club. He is one of the founders of the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TÜSİAD) and the Aegean Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (EGİAD). He founded the Selçuk Yaşar Sports and Education Foundation and Yaşar University. He is a Member of the Advisory Board of the Paint Manufacturers Association (BOSAD).
Selçuk Yaşar, who is married and the father of three children, speaks French and English.
