Master of Science – Sustainable Built Environment (Non-Thesis) at Yeditepe University: Tuition: $15000 USD Full Program (Scholarship Available)

Sustainable Built Environment Non-Thesis Master's program is an interdisciplinary program for graduates of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture, Landscape Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Environmental Engineering , Materials Engineering .

Since the second half of the 20th century, the issue of sustainability has been increasing its importance in the fields of natural sciences and social sciences. The environmental problems brought about by global warming and the disasters experienced in cities as a result of these, physical and spatial erosion, and the socio-economic problems that have developed due to this have required a broader perspective. The United Nations Commission on Environment and Development stated that "Humanity has the ability to make development sustainable by meeting their daily needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs." He made the most basic and comprehensive explanation on the subject. In this context, sustainable urban development, It has to aim at a growth that respects the existence and living resources of future generations and has prepared the ground for various studies in many departments related to the subject. Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Engineering, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering are just a few of these branches. It is thought that the subject is a whole with the departments that also deal with the design, administrative, legal, social and economic dimensions, and therefore the concept of sustainability requires to be considered as an interdisciplinary subject.

As presented in this program proposal, although master's programs related to sustainability in Turkey are on various subjects from business to energy, a master's program on sustainable built environment has not been opened yet. This program proposal aims to be a first in this field. The aim of the studies carried out within the framework of the program is to examine the issue of sustainability from the axis of ecology, environment, city and architecture and produce environmentalist and progressive (futurist) ideas with the contributions of different disciplines.

In this context, 'Sustainable Built Environment Master's Program with Thesis' aims to explain the theories, design methods and perspectives that include ecological, environmental, social, futuristic, economic and cultural factors that play a role in the development of sustainable built environment. Since the handling of the subject requires the unity of both the built environment and related disciplines, the proposed courses were created with the contributions of the departments of architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, civil engineering, sociology, public administration and materials engineering.

Students who graduated from the departments of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture, Landscape Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Environmental Engineering, Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design of universities can apply to this master's program.
