Bachelors of Science (BSc) in Civil Engineering at Istanbul Okan University: Tuition Fee: $3,800/year (After Scholarship)
We can see the leading role of Civil Engineering in the establishment of civilizations throughout history from various examples: Urban building techniques that started in Çatalhöyük in 9000 BC, the laws of Babylon Emperor Hammurabi, Indus Valley Civilization, Egyptian Pyramids, Great Wall of China, Roman Empire and Seljuk State period buildings. These projects can be listed as reference jobs that Civil Engineers bring to their communities.
With the increasing infrastructure needs in parallel with the rapid increase in the world population, Civil Engineering has entered a rapid development process. Today, Civil Engineering plays an important role not only for the infrastructure needs of developing countries, but also in the improvement of aging infrastructures in developed countries. We are in an effort to train Civil Engineers who can use today's technology and know their responsibilities to society. This profession, which has been in existence since the beginning of history, will continue its existence and importance throughout its history depending on the needs of humanity.
Civil Engineering Department started its undergraduate program in 2008. As of 2012, the first graduates of our department started to work in various fields of the construction industry. A Civil Engineer candidate who has won our department will be able to take courses in the fields of Structural Engineering, Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Structural Management Engineering during the 4-year undergraduate program. The consultancy and academic needs of students within the Civil Engineering Program are provided by our faculty members.
Our engineer candidates can also benefit from the bilateral agreements of the Civil Engineering Program with universities abroad within the scope of Erasmus (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students). In addition, our engineers who are successful in their courses can apply for the status of "working students" and take part in R&D activities carried out by our Faculty Members in the Construction Technologies Research Laboratory and scientific research projects supported by TUBITAK. In addition, our students have the chance to receive practical training by working in a workplace during their undergraduate education by participating in the COOPerative Learning program. Thus, they can develop their professional knowledge by having the opportunity to gain work experience before graduation.
